As usual jumping into something without fully researching other
letters on the subject - but I have to agree to a point regarding ads
in specialize magazines.

I not only buy Artforum and Bookforum for the articles and essays -
but also for the ads. In fact when I buy a book review magazine (NY
Review of Books, RAIN TAXI, etc.) I look for the ads first - because
in a lot of cases these titles would not come up to the surface if
there weren't ads placed.

The same also goes for music magazines that I devour each month -
Uncut, Mojo, and to a certain extent NME.

But at the same time I am happy that magazines like Film Comment
doesn't have industry Hollywood film ads. It would affect the
nature of their articles and essays.

So in the nutshell, I guess it really depends on the nature of the
publication. But for sure I am not anti-ad!
