Paul Bush Screenings - Canada and Chicago - September 2005
"What is so extraordinary about this body of work
is the passionate clarity of the ideas that fuel
it and the formal precision of the narrative and
cinematographically structures which allow the
viewer in’" (Leslie Dick)
Influenced by his background in fine art, Paul
Bush’s films - including The Albatross, Pas de
Deux de Deux and Busby Berkeley’s tribute to Mae
West - explore the history and present of cinema
and animation, while playing exuberantly with all
forms of art. His films challenge the boundaries
that separate fiction, documentary and animation,
yet Paul exemplifies the need to appreciate the
intersection of artistic intent and audience
understanding. He is an auteur practicing a
public art form.
