As a former full-time projectionist and setup technician I agree that
30 seconds is complete overkill, especially from DVD. I also cannot
count the times I have seen people who think video projection is
complete when you turn the projector and player on, press play, and
something appears on the screen.

By far the greatest mistake I see, however, is people setting the
sharpness at 100%. From my experience with projectors sharpness
should ride somewhere between 15% and 25%, but a lot of people seem
to fall into the Spinal Tap mentality of the higher the number the
better, producing disastrous results. The second biggest problem I
regularly encounter is Brightness and Picture too hot, followed by
hue offset and over-saturation.
