Out of curiosity, does anyone make their own films or emulsions for 16mm or
anything like that? I know it is fairly regular practice for still
photographers, and since there are all these books about pinhole cameras and
alternative photographic methods I was just wondering to what extent these ideas have
carried over into 16mm filmmaking?
Anyway, the fact that Kodak no longer makes reversal print stock seems a
little disconcerting to me. Does anyone also feel as though Kodak is ominously
standing over film as a medium, holding the lifeline? ('m sure this is not an
original thought). Are there companies (in Europe or anywhere) that still
make reversal print stocks? Is this the price we pay for our medium not being
"mediumless?"
As far as hand processing at home in the Lomo tank goes... it seems to
defeat the purpose somewhat if I need to process negative and send away for a
workprint anyway, before I can see what I've done.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks!
Steven
