If only the proceeds from all exp/AG DVDs and videos went to help support
the coops, then perhaps these supplimental materials would not be
replacement materials. Though I wish that these resource could go directly
towards make new rental prints. Many prints are in a dismal state.
Scott MacDonald wrote an insightful article about the academic climate
which has helped to create a decline in coop/film rentals. This is in
large part a failure by academic film departments to secure the budgets
necessary to pay film rentals. Academic departments that have also become
increasingly insular and closed off from the communities around them.
I'd like to suggest that Scott MacDonald's article be posted on Flicker.
What do you think Scott Stark?
