I have been involved in several projects that started out on film, were cut
on FCP and finished to digi-beta or HD.

As the other replies suggested, in terms of visual quality, it comes down to
three primary vairables, the quality of your telecine, how you get it in and
out of the box, and the quality of the projection. But you already knew that.

Going the HD route is pretty tough because it can run the costs up pretty
high, but its also technically complex if you don't have all the necessary
resources already in place. Actually anyway you go there are some potential
technical pitfalls. I don't think the question is really one of quality its more
or less what quality can you get with how much money and time you have.

Do you live near L.A.? Pilot season is ending which means that killer deals
on telecine season is starting.

Let us know exactly what you have in terms of footage, hardwear available to
you, do you have decks, HD or SD online bay etc, etc, etc money, then a work
flow could be recomended.
