This makes me think about the guy who ran the record store in Hollywood.
An analogue audiophile, built all the amps and speakers in the store,
swore by the (benefical) psychoaccoustics of analogue sound.
I heard that store closed recently, but maybe someone in LA can confirm
this. I always loved stopping in there when visiting.
