3M Scotchgard Film Protector is the coating applied to RPs to prevent
scratching and shedding. In addition, I think Christy's sells somekind of
cleaning leader that you can splice to the head of your RP. I've never use
this though.

Venues should really be using a "print inspection form" as a method of
inspecting prints that arrive for a screening in order to note the
condition before and after the print runs through the projector. A copy of
the form goes in the can and back to the filmmaker or distributor. It's
all part of QC and it seems there's a bit of laziness when it comes to
give attention to these kinds of details. Not to mention that many venues
(even art cinemas) have projectionists with little experience and are not
paid very well. Poor training is really the fault of the venue, and
operator error is often the reason for a scratched print.

BTW, where are you striking prints onto 7361?
