There used to be an Australian guy there who I think has since left? Is
that's who you're referring to leaving?

Derek Whitehouse used to work for Cinema Products, hence his specializing
in this area. Kenneth Hale, the head tech, used to work at Angenieux, and
also does CP work. Ken worked on a CP-16A I used to have and did a fine
job. Always hated loading that camera though...glad to make the switch to
an Eclair NPR which can be had for not too much more than a CP. Coaxial
mags are a nice way to go.

Optical Electro House, DuAll, SMS, and Visual Products all
service/overhaul the NPR for about $1000, and the camera itself you can
usually find from an individual owner for $1500-2500. The camera can be
converted to super 16 for another $2500.

Also, the NPR runs off a simple 12V battery, and has a C mount in the lens
turrent (Switars, Schneiders, Angenieux 25/.95), and Tobin makes a crystal
motor for this camera. IMO, there's so much about this camera that is
better than any CP that it does make much sense to be thinking about a CP
at all. And that's coming from a person who has owned 1 and shot with 3
others (all various models: CP-16R, GSMO).
