Dear Marilyn, Gene and Konrad,

I speak to you through Scott Stark's fingers... Thank you for the careful
words!! Let me say simply two or three things. One, P. Adams suggested that
I should reference films that the audience would know of... not a.g.
works... a simple and reasonable request. The main point is, however, that
there are, in my observation, just as many pitfalls in making a one person,
totally independent film as in making one in the industry. The chances for
misteps, however, can be seen in a general sense to be opposite from one
another... so I took this conceptual shortcut. Of course there are many
exceptions.

On May 13 the SF Cinematheque will celebrate my book, I may do a small
reading, and we will show Stan's "A Child's Garden and the Serious Sea" and
discuss it, perhaps in light of my book.

Nathaniel
