As always James I appreciate your thoughtful comments.

I should have made it clear in my message that I did
*not* think you were implying anything about what
readers want but instead presenting the postion of
most editors....and I have to say I absolutely agree
that it is the position of most editors, and a
distgusting one.

I also agree with your comments about bankable
programs when attempting to get press coverage. Laying
out a schedule and deciding what comes when and what
programs act as a springboard for an entire series is
critical.

I have often thought that the best way to get
consistent "visibility" is to pay for one of those
business card sized adds in the weekly paper. The
capsule review will always be there, but an ad could
only help the situation.

Glancing in a weekly paper on any given week usually
reveals a big film that gets: a distributors ad, and
ad from the theater where its playing, a review, and
on occasion a number of stills too. I always get a
kick out of this....blanket coverage...it's as if
there's nothing else happening in town but a couple of
films (from H-wood).

Best,
Alain
