another point with forwarding articles

Leaving any copyright issues to the side, one good argument for posting
only the URLs is that websites measure the hits the articles get so going
to the site instead of reading it by email not only benefits the author but
those of us who want to see more articles on similar subjects. In the
current example, maybe a few hundred additional hits might mean a follow-up
piece on Jack Smith or even show enough interest for more a-g film
coverage. Print publications have long considered a pass around rate to
estimate readership based on physical copies but webmasters tend to think
this neglible or even non-existant for the Web.

(Though please don't post just the URLs but include a short synopsis, even
if it's only a few words. Getting email just saying "look at this" is a
real bother, particularly for people on numerous lists.)
