but Anger chose Bobby pre-Manson for Lucifer Rising. the eventual
soundtrack was recorded by Bobby in the 70s, but the relationship
existed pre-Beausoleil / Manson.
sure, Manson chose the Beatles, but Dennis chose Manson pre-the murders.
remember in SOME counter culture publications Manson was named "man of
the year" following his arrest, and when he was jailed he was visited
by several counter culture radicals. indeed various people in the
counter culture (for want of a better name) helped release Manson's
music and so forth in the 70s.
in many ways Anger's interest in Beausoleil could be said to reflect
the concerns / interests of the times, as well as his own historical
relationship, and also perhaps Anger's own interests as articulated in
Hollywood B.
