Call for Work:

SOLUTIONS FOR MODERN LIVING
An open source art show

Submissions Deadline: April 2, 2004

Screening in downtown Ithaca, NY on May 14, 2004

http://digityl.com/solutions.html

Open call for submissions to a one-night multi-artist exhibition centered
around themes of consumerism, surveillance and the New American
Empire. (Interpret those watchwords as loosely as you see fit.) Bringing
together diverse works of art in multiple media that create a dialogue
between pieces, artists and audience (and blur those lines) is ultimately
the goal.

We are looking for film/video installations, computer art, live performance,
photography, sculpted works, etc. Any medium is acceptable with
emphasis given to those incorporating interactivity and DIY production.
Old and new work accepted as well as works in progress.

We call ourselves 'Open Source' because we operate by allowing each
artist a say in preparing the show, dependent on their desired level of
participation. Basically, the more you put in, the more you get. Once your
piece is accepted into the show, congratulations, you have just joined the
selection and planning committee.

Preview copies can be VHS, DVD, slides, digital photos... pretty much
anything we can look at to get a good idea of what your piece is all about.
(Sorry, no PAL, we do not have the means to watch it). In the description
include your name, contact info, medium, running time (if applicable), any
equipment needed for presentation, and any additional explanation you
feel is necessary to understand your piece.

There is no submission fee. The screening is free and open to the public.
Artist participation in planning and execution of the show is vital and
strongly encouraged so please SEND EARLY.
