1958.
Here are some relevant dates I know: Stan and Jane married, December
1957; Myrrena (of "Window Water Baby Moving," born November , 1958 --
birth filmed in Princeton; Stan and Jane arrived in Princeton (after
a brief period in NYC) when Jane was substantially into her pregnancy,
I'm guessing the summer of 1958, therefore; Stan lists on his C.V.
under 1958 both "commercial work in Geneva Switzerland for the Geneva
Atomic Peace Conference," and "designed and directed opening sequences
for General Electric Television Theater, Princeton, New Jersey"; in
1959 he has himself situated back in Colorado, where he made two films
for the State of Colorado: "The Colorado Legend" and "The Ballad of
The Colorado Ute"; in 1960 he made "Mr Tomkins Inside Himself," a
science educational film, in collaboration with George Gamow; also in
1960, "commissioned by National Educational Television to do moving
picture illustrations for passages of Sartre's Nausea, for Hazel
Barnes' Television series on Existentialism"; and in 1963 he was in the
Dakotas, working for Nauman Films (Projects included film on Mount
Rushmore, photography for Part II of film on Korzcak Ziolkowski, and
film on Chief Sitting Bull.)

. . . As for Paris (re. post by Sam Wells) I believe that visit
followed the trip to Brussels for the World's Fair (also in '58), where
he received "Protest Award" for six films entered in competition (a
transgression, in his view -- to enter art in a competition, that is --
that was still troubling his conscience not long before he died.) . .
. That would make sense (the conjunction with Brussels, that is),
because he was there (Paris) with Kenneth Anger (and others -- but
Anger is seen in the film "The Dead.")

Hope this helps,
Marilyn
