Hello, Frameworkers,
We are 2 asian/american experimental film maker now preparing for our
feature project, and would like to look for a producer, not necessarily
a fundraiser but a helper passionate in being producer and have the
ability to manage our gay and lesbian feature.
Our production "to the clouds", which is a movie about the fluidity of
sexuality, and will have 2 homosexual couples (one gay, one lesbian)
each have 1 asian and 1 american characters, the core production will
be in New York City, and we are thinking to shift the production from
Berlin to Hong Kong due to the funding resources. we have already get
the verbal agreement from the actors and actresses that is now acting
in a well-known director's movie. Also, stars in Hong Kong have also
agreed to act in the film.
This project is recently selected in the Talent Project Market in
Berlinale 2004, and will be presented by the Berlin International Film
Festival. The directors will be presenting the film in Berlin in Feb.

Synopsis: all the European character can change to American characters
“To the Clouds” is a haunting love story of a gay man, a female
prostitute and a lesbian couple. It is steeped in the romanticism
from the “Mail Art” period of 60s Germany. It pushes the boundary of
the fluidity of sexualities and is a battle between love, lust,
reality, memory and illusions.
Synopsis (max. half page): While on vacation, Hong Kongese Chinese
Ricky falls in love with Pascal, a European. Months later Ricky leaves
Pascal to go to New York City. While in NYC’s Chinatown, Pascal sends
postcards full of love and memories to Ricky. But the postcards are
misdelivered to Juno and Maila, a lesbian couple that is on the
suspicious edges of separation. Maila, an immigrant from Eastern
Europe, is searching for her identity both in the relationship and this
alien country. This causes Maila to doubt her sexuality and love toward
Juno. When Juno senses this change in Maila and she is overcome with
grief. Juno reads and gets obsess with the postcards from Ricky, a
stranger, and draws energy to wait for the magical moment when Maila
returns to her heart.
This is a love story about couples and the energy that brings and
separates two people. Thematic couplings of fidelity versus loyalty,
illusion versus memory, the norm versus the ever-evolving, lust versus
romance, and real versus surreal are themes used to create a story
about characters defined by cultural differences and the fluidity of
sexuality.
“To the Clouds ” will be shot on location in Europe and in the U.S.,
home to displaced cultural identities. Ricky is from Hong Kong, a
city-state just ended its hundred year of colonization. Juno is
Euro-asian, and Maila is and Eastern European immigrant. Pascal is a
native born European, but he is the most mysterious figure, a possible
figment of Ricky’s imagination. “ To the Clouds ” is about the tectonic
nature of identity told through a fragmented narrative.
