Excuse me, but either you misunderstand me or it is you who don't know
what you are talking about. "A splicer that cuts on the frameline" is
shorthand for a splicer which cuts so that one end of the "flap" you
describe is right on the frameline. The black leader is spliced to come
right up to the frameline thus hiding the splice in the flap. Perhaps
you are not aware of the fact that there exist 16mm splicers which make
splices in such a way that neither end of the flap coincides with the
frameline, and at least at one time those splicers were quite common,
and those splicers would be useless for A&B rolling because the black
leader will not end at the frameline. Perhaps you are also not aware of
the fact that some splicers designed for A&B rolling may be out of
alignment, thus not making one side of their cuts exactly on the
frameline, and thus not appropriate for A&B rolling. What I wrote was
not "absolutely retarded," as you claim, but absolutely correct.
Jeff Kreines's posts are a lot more interesting than yours, because I
usually learn something from them, and I don't have to waste time
replying to them either.
I'm glad you liked my DVD notes!
