Recordak: a 16mm BW sprocketless film stock and camera system, employed
to make archive reduced scale copies of paper documents. Facility for
printing from 16mm original to make hard copies. Stock had very slow
ASA rating.

I once ('70's) began a project which involved a helpful person at the
British library (U.K. equivalent of the U.S.Lib.O.Congress.). Finding
that paper documents were photographed onto 16mm Recordak film, and that
there was a Xerox machine which could make paper copies of 16mm frames,
I had a number of lengths of live action 16mm reversal printed onto
paper. The output was in the form of continuous rolls of paper. The
magnification had been selected such that the entire 16mm width was
printed onto the paper rolls.
The idea was that the 16mm DP sprocket holes could act as an animation
registration image, and the material was intended to be refilmed under a
rostrum camera (US = "downshooter"), and I can't remember what else was
intended, but it was an early live action narrative short project with
some animated content.
I still have some of the resultant paper rolls, with footage of soccer
shot off television using an NPR whose chrystal motor produced perfect
25fps off-monitor copies.
The film never got made.
The ebay image looks to me like the film-stock cassette and possibly a
fixed focus lens-system which would have imaged a rear projection screen
which would have been the last part of the demagnification optics in the
copy machine.
I remember receiving some recordak stock by an accidental error in
ordering.
I decided to keep a few rolls. The strange image of film without
sprockets had a magical rather than a demystifying attraction.
For certain there is no claw in the recordak cameras on ebay, if that's
what you had hoped.
