Accretion

ACCRETION (2016) is inspired by the extremely violent processes that characterize the universe as well as by its harmonious and peaceful appearance from a distance— from boiling fusion processes inside the core of a star to swirling debris of planetary formation at the outskirts of our solar system. Its title, 'Accretion', refers to the gravity-induced formation of stars and planetary systems that is thought to take place in clouds of molecular gas, known as accretion discs.
The video is in three parts: I. Disc - II. Neutron Star - III. Kuiper Belt—the titles of these parts speaking for themselves. The first part ‘Disc’ is separated from the second part ‘Neutron Star’ by a short break whereas the second part merges seamlessly with the third part, ‘Kuiper Belt’.
Electronic soundtrack composed by René Baptist Huysmans, organ part composed by Michael Bonaventure. Video made by Λrthvr, edited from space animations by NASA, ESO, ESA, HUBBLE and stock footage (videoblocks.com)
